It's Here - SolidWorks Enterprise PDM 2009

SolidWorks Enterprise PDM (SWEPDM) 2009 SP0.0 has recently been released and I am fairly certain the first thing you are wondering is other then the name what else has changed with this latest release. There have been several changes so I will just list the main levels of enhancement in this first post and over the next several weeks I'll break this down and cover more in depth each of the new or improved features.

Main Areas of Enhancement

Administration Improvements:
  • Licensing – ability to mix and match psl and stand alone. Can incrementally add.
  • Migration tool – migrate major vault version without incrementing the rev number (no checkout necessary)
Workflow Enhancements:
  • Selection of notification recipients on the fly
  • Send one notification for all files affected by a change state operation
  • Comments are displayed in the notification text
  • Change state on groups of files in one operation
SolidWorks Integration:
  • Toolbar incorporated into user interface
  • Workgroup type icons
  • Static preview pane
  • Change state and where used
  • Launch SWEPDM search
Expanded BOM capabilities:
  • Improved support for SolidWorks BOM
  • Computed BOM now has the ability to show configuration name or SolidWorks part number
  • Add position numbers to named BOMNamed BOM associative to SolidWorks Assembly BOM
Additional Application Support:
  • Simulation results included during check-in
  • Support for Office 2007
  • Support for Inventor 2009
  • Support for Windows Server 2008
  • Support for SQL 2008
